The Kansas Jayhawks put an exclamation point on the regular season title in the Big 12 by winning the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City. They did so by beating both Iowa State and Kansas State for the third time in one season. Both teams and fanbases were juiced up and Kansas turned both away with relative ease. Now we find out if that leads to a no. 1 seed.
Kansas will most certainly be playing in Kansas City next weekend. They are likely in the South regional either as a no. 1 or a no. 2 seed with Arlington Texas being the second stop on the way to Atlanta. The brackets come out soon and Bill Self and Kansas will check the matchups and get ready to give the late March into early April run a reality.
It's never easy and sometimes things don't fall the right way. This year more than ever things seem to be up in the air with any number of teams holding a very real chance at reaching the Final Four. At the end of the day Kansas has been the winningest program in all of college basketball during Bill Self's first ten years at Kansas. Kansas is also very close to becoming one of just three programs to win 300 games in a 10 year span. Yes success is measured in March and today is the day filled with excitement, but what has been accomplished to this point is pretty incredible in its own right.
Happy St. Patrick's Day, Happy Selection Sunday...Rock Chalk Jayhawk and let's get it done in Kansas City next weekend.
