Kansas vs. Texas Tech Gamethread

The Jayhawks take on Texas Tech in the second game of the Big 12 schedule

A quick rundown of important items of note for tonight's matchup between the Jayhawks and the Red Raiders:

Texas Tech is going to have a big problem scoring against the Jayhawks: they shoot 52.4% from two and take a lot of them, but that approach isn't going to fly against Jeff Withey. Resorting to shooting threes has been a problem, however, as the Red Raiders are shooting just 27.1% from beyond the arc.

When: Saturday, January 12, 3:00 PM CT

Where: United Spirit Arena, Lubbock, TX

Watch: Big 12 Network/Espn3

Texas Tech:

Key Injuries:

No injuries to report.

Strength: Turnovers

The Red Raiders create a lot of turnovers: opponents turn it over on 24.1% of their possessions, which ranks 31st in the country, but that probably has more to do with the schedule than any special talent that Texas Tech has.

Weakness: Three point shooting

As I mentioned above, the Red Raiders are shooting just 27.1% from three, which ranks 331st nationally. Freshman Dusty Hannahs is shooting 43% on 48 attempts, but no one else on the roster is shooting it even better than 32%

Key Injuries:

F Justin Wesley (Finger)

There is no real polite way to say this: Texas Tech is not good. Their best win in terms of KenPom was North Carolina A&T, who ranks 245th. They do sit at 1-1 in Big 12 play after beating TCU in the conference opener, but the return visit from the Horned Frogs is likely the last conference game they'll win.
