I'm back after my self/family duty imposed hiatus late last week. Looking forward to the downhill side of the offseason as we creep ever closer to August, fall camp and the start of football season.

Kansas focused on getting sick football program healthy -
It was late last November, and morale was waning. A football team was limping to the finish, and KU athletic director Sheahon Zenger was forced to embark on a pivotal and urgent mission.

Wearing a powder-blue American League jersey, white pants and a K.C. Royals cap, Self, KU’s basketball coach, measured the first pitch from Olympic softball hurler Jennie Finch and blasted it over the left-center-field fence.

"I try to be a good guy off the field, and I try to smile all the time," Stowers said. "But once you step onto the gridiron, it’s all a different story. You try to be the best player possible first, and then you bring the nasty after that."
