Kansas Football Recruiting 2013: Chris Martin Commits to the Jayhawks

John Rieger-US PRESSWIRE

Kansas has added another big piece to the puzzle this afternoon with the commitment of defensive end Chris Martin. Martin is a 6'5" 260 pound strongside defensive end prospect with a pretty impressive past and he'll be joining the Jayhawks in the Spring.

Martin chose the Jayhawks over Washington State and also recently picked up an offer from Bo Pelini and Nebraska. Martin is rated as a four star prospect and alongside Andrew Bolton he gives Kansas two NFL sized defensive ends to add to their rotation for 2013.

Out of high school Martin had committed to Jeff Tedford and Cal before ending up at Florida where he spent time with Kansas strength coach Scott Holsopple. Martin was an Army All American and the 18th ranked prospect nationally coming out of high school but ended up at City College of San Francisco after his time at Florida ended following some off field concerns.

Martin reports brings speed off the edge and impressive size to the position. A second shot at BCS level football with Holsopple and Weis could be a huge benefit to both sides of the equation.
