Kansas Opens As A Seven Point Dog To Northern Illinois

Vegas released their odds for the coming weeks set of college football games and the Jayhawks started as a seven point dog in their matchup against Northern Illinois.  The Jayhawks will face off against the Huskies in Lawrence on Saturday night and that makes the line all the more depressing.

Despite a solid week one outing the sports world isn't all that impressed with Kansas just yet.  Or maybe they are just more impressed with Northern Illinois.  While the Jayhawks effort was enough to move the line a bit in their favor (6.5/6), Northern Illinois put up some monster numbers against Army in their opener.

The Huskies put up a total of 500+ yards of offense in their opener while running out to a 49-6 lead at the end of the third quarter.  Army put together a few scores in garbage time putting the final at 49-26 but ultimately the Husky offense looks like it will be a tall order for a Kansas defense that allowed over 400 yards of offense and over 300 yards through the air.

Based on the week on performances of both teams it is an interesting matchup.  The Huskies look solid on the offensive side of the ball but they don't look great at stopping the run with a bit of an undersized defensive interior.  Kansas on the other hand looks capable of running the football while the defense struggled to defend the pass which is exactly where the Huskies looked their best.  This could be a high scoring affair and the over/under could be an interesting bet.
