If the phrase "put your money where your mouth is" exists in the dictionary somewhere, the pictures of Marcus and Markieff Morris likely accompany it. After trash talking the Longhorns a bit last night, the Twins backed it up, combining for 31 points and 15 rebounds as Kansas won the Big 12 title for the second year in a row, and in the process avenging one of its two losses on the year.
The game had many of the same mechanics of their regular season meeting: a KU run to start the game and a sizable lead at halftime, followed by a UT run to push it back to single digits midway through the second half. Fortunately (for a number of reasons) the Jayhawks were not up until 6 AM the night/morning before and were able to pull away.
Tyshawn Taylor had his best game of the season, and given the circumstances I don't think it's a stretch to say it was the best game of his career. He had 20 points, and accumulated them efficiently, going 5-8 from two and 2-2 from three. He also had 5 assists next to only 2 turnovers.
A special shoutout should go out to Brady Morningstar. He had a very good offensive game, with 12 points, but although Jordan Hamilton had 19 for Texas, he did it on 8-20 shooting. Great job by Brady.
And great job by the Jayhawks, back to back tournament champs. Now let's go win some other tournament that I hear starts next weekend.
