Steven Johnson Named Second Team AP All Big 12

Well, the media got it right. A day after being one of the bigger snubs on the All Big 12 coaches team, Steven Johnson makes his way onto the second team in the AP release.

Johnson, a 6-foot-1 linebacker from Media, Pa., finished the 2011 season as the leading tackler in the Big 12 with 124 stops, including 66 solo tackles. He is the first Kansas player to lead the conference in tackles since Roger Robben led the Big Eight with 146 tackles in 1989.

The only downside of the AP team is that only four other Jayhawks received any sort of recognition. It appears the media was less forgiving of the Jayhawks poor showing this season than the coaches. Tim Biere, DJ Beshears, Duane Zlatnik and Ron Doherty were the other four Jayhawks to receive mention.
