Just a day after garnering Big 12 Player of the Week honors, Thomas Robinson is in the news again. This time the recognition is coming on a National level as Robinson was Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
This past week Robinson averaged 23.5 points and 11 rebounds in wins over Long Beach State and no. 2 Ohio State. Robinson scored 10 of the last 12 points for the Jayhawks in the upset win over the Buckeyes this past Saturday and provided a big lift down the stretch after a somewhat slow start.
Against Long Beach State, Robinson contributed 26 points in an 88-80 victory over a very tough team. While the 49ers don't have the name recognition that an Ohio State type opponent does, they did pull an upset over Pittsburgh early this season and lost to North Carolina by just six points on Saturday. Two big performances and two big wins against solid competition is exactly what Kansas needs to see out of one of their primary leaders as the Jayhawk season continues.
