Despite all the frustration of late lets take a step back and look at this for just a minute. Where we're good, we're pretty good. Where we're bad, we're the worst. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing but these Jayhawks do sit five games into the season and they are still producing from an offensive standpoint, they are still doing well from in the special teams areas, they are just about the worst thing ever to step on the field defensively.
So what does all that mean? Depends on your confidence in the coaching staff and the direction to date I suppose. Either you think we're a solid recruiting class and some improvements on the defense away from competitiveness or you think the floor is about to fall out. Someday we'll know which was the right way of thinking.
As for this week it's Oklahoma. The Sooners aren't the best team Kansas will see on the offensive side of the ball but they are still a very good team. Realistically Kansas might have a better matchup on their hands with Oklahoma when it comes to what has been ailing the Kansas defense but overall the Sooners are the most balanced team Kansas will have faced and that presents a challenge to the offense.
If you're looking for a culprit in all of this, look at the big play. Turnovers, tackles for a loss and sacks. Kansas is turning it over, they aren't creating turnovers and they aren't doing much to disrupt opposing offenses. It's fish in a barrel right now, fish in a barrel.
