First full week of conference play and Morris gets the nod.  Through two games his play has picked up just like it did last year when we hit the conference schedule and now he has a chance to make a play at the POY.

IRVING, Texas - Kansas junior Marcus Morris was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week Monday in leading the No. 3 Jayhawks to victories against conference foes Iowa State and Nebraska last week. The honor is the second for Morris this season.

A 6-9 forward from Philadelphia, Morris averaged 24.5 points and 12.0 rebounds, while shooting 70.8 percent from the field in KU's two victories. He began the week with career-highs of 33 points and 13 rebounds in Kansas' 84-79 win at ISU, connecting on 11-of-15 field goals. He then helped KU rebound from a 10-point second-half deficit with 16 points and 11 boards on 6-of-9 shooting in the Jayhawks' 63-60 win versus Nebraska. Thirteen of Morris' points against the Huskers came after halftime.

Morris, who leads the Big 12 with a 60.9 field goal percentage, has four double-doubles this season, including each of his last three games. On Saturday, he became the 53rd player in KU history to surpass the 1,000-point scoring plateau for his career. Morris' 16.7 scoring average is seventh in the conference.

Morris was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Nov. 29 after earning Las Vegas Invitational MVP honors. His twin brother, Markieff, was named Big 12 Player of the Wee Dec, 27 and KU freshman Josh Selby was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week on Dec. 20.

Kansas (17-0, 2-0) plays its first of four ESPN Big Monday contests tonight at Baylor at 8:30 p.m.
