Kansas Jayhawk News and Notes 1.13.11

What a great opening night for Marcus Morris.  Yes it was another to close for comfort effort, but based on what happened around college basketball I think we can see that parity rules the court.  A win on the road is a win and I'll admit I didn't get to watch this one, but I'm happy the team pulled it out.

Marcus Morris leads KU with 33 | CJOnline.com

Road wins in the Big 12 are going to come at a premium as usual. Kansas has done it more often than anyone and once again tonight they walk out with a win. Marcus Morris makes his initial case for Big 12 player of the year honors. 15 more games to go, and it doesn't get any easier from here on out.

Cyclones awed by Morrises | KUsports.com

Who knew after a year that saw the BB gun incident and for whatever reason two 6'9" guys that couldn't or wouldn't dunk, that we'd be sitting here today where the Morris twins have the ability to explode on any given night. Now granted Iowa State has one of the weaker interiors that we'll face in conference play, but when the opportunity was there the two carried this team.

Wish I could have seen this one just to watch Marcus Morris do some work. Everyone is raving about him today, ESPN, local media, you name it. Hopefully this sets a tone for the rest of the way.

Buffs stun K-State at Bramlage | CJOnline.com

Two stories here. One, maybe K-State is a team that never quite puts it together. This was expected to be the best year in 20+ years and it looks like those hopes are dying a rather abrupt death. The second story is Tad Boyle and the Buffs. Nervous for that trip to Boulder yet? The game on January 25th looks pretty huge at this point, maybe even bigger than the Jayhawk trip to the Octagon of Gloom.

Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Texas A&M Aggies - Recap - January 12, 2011 - ESPN

This is an impressive win for A&M due to the ease with which it occurred. OSU isn't a great team, but they did just beat K-State. A&M is a player this year. Anyone else find it interesting that two of the teams playing very well tonight(Colorado and A&M) have former Jayhawks as coaches.  Former Jayhawks that played in the same era under the same coach at that.

Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Missouri Tigers - Recap - January 12, 2011 - ESPN

Missouri plays well in Columbia as usual. It's the road contests that will determine the Tigers fate.

Duke Blue Devils vs. Florida State Seminoles - Recap - January 12, 2011 - ESPN

It can happen to anyone on any night. Four undefeateds remain. I think everyone is better of just accepting the fact that KU's time will come and that come March, this thing is wide open.

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Michigan Wolverines - Recap - January 12, 2011 - ESPN

That scare in Ann Arbor doesn't look so bad anymore. Ohio State escapes with a four point win.

A couple of questions that mention Kansas. Eamonn's asked where the single best game to watch would be...guess where he mentions.
