Time of Possession
A week ago the Jayhawks were able to keep the time of possession almost dead even giving up just three minutes overall to the opponent. Considering that opponent was Georgia Tech, one of the premier triple option attacks in the country, that's a win.
Headed to Hattiesburg, the Golden Eagles can score in a hurry and will keep the game very fast paced. They want more possessions and more opportunities to score plain and simple. Now you can certainly beat USM playing their game as South Carolina displayed in week one, but this new Kansas attack hasn't proven that they have that outscore your opponent ability.
The more Kansas can keep the Southern Miss. offense on the sideline the better chance the defense has at making the stops to win the game.
Last week Kansas showed the type of balanced attack needed to accomplish this and with 100 yard rusher from a week ago James Sims getting the start, the running game will once again be key. Change it up, take what they give you and move the chains. That's what the Jayhawks need to do offensively.
Three and outs are bad.
