Phil Ford Commits

Phil Ford is your newest Kansas Jayhawk.  Yesterday we discussed the "recruiting summit" and today we have the afternoon special, "The Decision".  No not that decision, but Ford's decision.  Quite frankly, a decision I care a lot more about than the one going on tonight on ESPN.

After spending the day on campus, meeting with coaches, watching a workout and spending time with a few other recruits, Phil is a Jayhawk.

Early on the Beast from Bishop Miege was very high on Turner Gill and the Jayhawks.  The coaches set out a plan for Ford with a few criteria to draw an offer and Phil Ford met the challenge head on.  After camp a few weeks back he was received the offer, but Minnesota appeared to be in the driver seat.

Two visits in two weeks and a strong push by Turner Gill and JB Grimes put to bed those doubts, and the 6'6" 340 pound Ford committed to Kansas.

Great news for Kansas as they wrap up a hefty haul on the offensive line.  Great news on the local recruiting front and a great story to follow in the coming years.  If Ford continues to rise to the challenges of the staff he could be a fun one to watch develop.

Now the question becomes, is there more to come later?
