Kansas Football Adding a Linebacker Transfer

A little bit of good news perhaps?  It appears the Jayhawks are getting a little help coming in the form of a transfer at the linebacker position.

I received a confirmation tonight that former Buffalo middle linebacker Darius Willis is set to transfer into the Jayhawk program this summer after departing from the Buffalo program late in April.

Willis was recruited out of high school as an athlete but was given an opportunity by Coach Gill to play at quarterback which is an opportunity that he was looking for.  After things didn't pan out the move was made to middle linebacker, the position where he received the most interest out of high school.

Willis currently checks in at 6'4" 245 pounds and clocked in with a 4.61 forty time this spring.  A pretty nice combination of size and speed for a player that did receive quite a bit of interest at the position in 2008.

Willis played in four games with the Bulls during his second year at the University before suffering a season ending pectoral injury that forced him to the sideline.  Due to transfer rules Willis would have to sit in 2010 and enter the 2011 season as a redshirt sophomore..

Still a long way to go before 2011, things could always change, but the wheels are in motion with Willis.
