Recruiting Chatter: Dual Threat Quarterbacks

The dual threat quarterback.  A pretty clear target of the new staff as the Jayhawks have offered six already and more look to be on the way.  Once such player that could be seeing an offer from the Jayhawks at the position is Arlington Texas native Russell Bellomy.

Bellomy stands 6'3" 185 pounds and reports a 4.6 40 time while playing for Martin in Arlington.  If that school sounds familiar, it should.  Chris Omigie, current Jayhawk wideout, played for Martin and once played right along side Bellomy. 

This past weekend Bellomy was up for the spring game and this week he gave us a few minutes for a quick Q&A on Kansas, his recruitment and impressions of the program.  Again, pretty basic stuff, but another snapshot and viewpoint from a player who is definitely seeing serious interest from around the country.

On How his Kansas recruitment and spring game visit came about.

About two months ago I started talking with Coach Stamn, and we have been keeping in touch since.  He and Kansas have really showed a lot of interest lately so I thought it was important  to get up to KU and check it out for myself.

I was able to watch the spring game which was great, my boy Chris tore it up.  Then we got a look around at the facilities and time to talk to the coaches, the new facilities really stood out.

I got to talk with Coach Long more.  He would be my position coach and he really had some good stuff to say about the program and the offense.  I have also talked with Chris(Omigie) several times and he loves it up there, he has said some very good things about the new staff.

On other schools in the mix and offers to date.

I have offers from FIU, Michigan State, Purdue, UAB, Colorado St, Tulsa, and there are going to be more than 15 colleges coming down to see me during spring football, 

So far I've been on visits to i have been to Houston, Kansas St, Northwestern, Illinois, Tulsa, Vanderbilt, Purdue, and now Kansas.

Talking expectations going forward with Kansas.

Hopefully they offer! They are coming to see me this week and we will go from there.  I have grown up with the Big 12, and for that reason Kansas is a school that would get serious consideration.

Coach Long and Coach Stamn are coming to watch me so I think I'll know more then.  And obviously with Chris(Omigie) up there, that angle interests me too, he's an amazing receiver. 

Overall I'd like to make a decision and commit after spring ball towards the beginning of summer
