Kansas Set To Host Several Football Recruits

Jayhawkslant is reporting a handful of visitors to Lawrence this weekend and several claim the state of Florida as home.

Jephete Matilus is currently committed to Minnesota, but with the coaching situation it appears Kansas has worked their way into the conversation.  Matilus is a 6'1" 220 pound inside linebacker prospect who is viewed as a fairly versatile player that can fill in at multiple roles.

A pair of teammates in (DE)Clavion Nelson and (ATH)Kevin Grooms are two that the Jayhawks seem to view as HIGH priorities this year.  Grooms is an athlete that could play on offense or defense, while Nelson is a 6'4" 230 pound end prospect.  Grooms has offers from Florida, Florida State, Kansas State, Mississippi, Tennessee and others.  Nelson's two other major offers are Illinois and South Florida.

The addition of all three would be big for helping round out the class from a defensive perspective while further developing inroads in the state of Florida.

The other big name taking a visit is Edwardsville Illinois running back Rodney Coe.  Coe is a 6'3" 230 athlete with offers from anyone and everyone.  It has been the perception for a while that Iowa likely leads, but getting him on campus is a start and possibly a small victory for Reggie Mitchell and Kansas.

Rounding out the list of visitors this weekend are three committed prospects.  Another Florida player, Chris Robinson. Olathe North's Adonis Saunders and linebacker prospect Jake Love out of Oklahoma.

UPDATE: In related news it is being reported that Ryan Murphy and Steven Foster will be graduating this year and not returning to the football team for their final year of eligibility.  Darius Parish will be transferring out of the Kansas program.

And some good news,  Kale Pick is committed to Kansas and becoming the next Kerry Meier as a wide receiver...so maybe that's not a given, but glad to see he's made the decision.

UPDATE #2: Dylan Admire and Darrian Miller are both signed and officially joining the Jayhawks as of January.  In the football recruiting world where nothing is official until the ink is dry...the ink is dry.
