Kickoff is an hour and a half away. Here's hoping it's a fun night. Feel free to join us here at RCT to follow the game.
A few notes on the Kansas, Kansas State and the rivalry as we wait for kickoff.
- KU has won three of the last four matchups against KSU.
- KU has won three straight at home against Kansas State.
- KU has not won or lost consecutive games this season (lost last game at Baylor).
100TH CONSECUTIVE MEETING -- Thursday's game will mark the 100th consecutive meeting between Kansas and Kansas State. That ranks as the fourth-longest uninterrupted series in the nation behind Kansas-Nebraska (104), Minnesota-Wisconsin (103) and Clemson-South Carolina (101). The teams have met every year beginning in 1911. The schools played each other eight straight years from 1902-1909 before not playing in 1910.
KU-KANSAS STATE SERIES -- Kansas and Kansas State will be playing for the 108th time, including the 100th consecutive year. Kansas leads the series 65-37-5, including a 37-15-2 advantage in games played at Lawrence. KU has won four of the last six, including three of the last four. However, Kansas State won the last matchup - 17-10 at Manhattan last year. The Jayhawks have won three straight at home since KSU's last victory here in 2002.
"For me, yes, because I'm a Kansas kid - I didn't really know all the history between Kansas and Missouri, I didn't know how bad it was until I got to college. The Kansas State rivalry always felt like a bigger deal to me. Everybody from my high school went to K-State." - Isiah Barfield
