We're here, we've made it.  It seems like not too long ago I was getting off a plane after watching Todd Reesing, Dezmon Briscoe and Kerry Meier destroy the Minnesota Gophers.

Now a little over three weeks since practices started we've got a game week.  Real preparation for a real opponent.  This weeks game may be a bit anticlimactic but regardless the Northern Colorado Bears come to town this week for the season tune up.

This week we'll get back into our football routine with matchup previews, the tale of the tape, Mangino presser quotes and don't forget Rock Chalk Talk will be your gameday headquarters with links to stories from the week and of course everyone's favorite way to watch a game...THE OPEN GAME THREAD!!

I know it's not always easy with football because football is an event, but if you're around and especially those that are new, check it out.  Think of it as a virtual sports bar.  Pull up a stool, grab your beverage of choice and chat with other Kansas football fans and RCT'ers around the country.

Kicking the week off though here's a quick 10,000 foot view of the UNC Bears.

The University of Northern Colorado

Location: Greeley Colorado

Conference: The Big Sky

Head Coach: Scott Downing

Athletic Director: Jay Hinrichs (Former Kansas Associate AD, tookover in 2004)

2008 results: 1-11

A Few Quick Facts - The UNC Bears were a major player in the Division II ranks winning back to back National Titles in both '96 and '97 before making the jump to division I where they play in the Football subdivision.  Think Appalachian State.

Initially entering the Division I ranks in 2003 the Bears looked like they might carry over their success completing the season 9-2 as an independent.  After joining the Great West Conference in 2004 their success dwindled going 6-16 in two years before moving to the Big Sky where they have seen 3 straight 1 win seasons.
