LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kansas football will hold Fan Appreciation Day at Kivisto Field at Memorial Stadium on Wednesday beginning at 4 p.m.
Jayhawk fans will be admitted free to the stadium to watch the team practice. Selected players will be available to sign autographs after the workout, which is scheduled to finish at approximately 5:45 p.m.
Fans are asked to park and enter the stadium and sit on the west side. Concession stands will be open on the lower west side and the Fun Zone will be open at 4 p.m. just south of the Anderson Family Football Complex. Tickets for the 2009 season will also be on sale at the event.
Kansas will open the 2009 season hosting Northern Colorado on Sept. 5 at 6 p.m.
Quick note to all of you who have the opportunity or can make it. Please, take advantage of this. Fact of the matter is this is as much about showing the players how much we appreciate their efforts as it is an appreciation day for the fans. This is a year round job for these gents and every once in a while they could use a little pat on the back letting them know how much we really appreciate what they do.
Sure you can show up and cheer on Saturdays but if you ever get the chance to look one of these guys in the eye and say, "hey thanks for all your hard work", it can go a long way. Besides, these guys are the reason Saturday's in the fall matter again.
