Briscoe & Stuckey on the Preseason All Big 12

Just like the preseason polls yesterday this was chosen by the Big 12 media and hard to argue with the selections at this point.  I must say though that it is absolutely amazing the talent that has moved through this conference at the QB position over the past few years as Todd hasn't even sniffed at an all conference squad still.

July 24, 2009 LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe and safety Darrell Stuckey were named to the 2009 Media Preseason All-Big 12 Football Team it was announced by the league office on Friday.

Briscoe, a junior, was an All-Big 12 Second Team selection in 2008.  He heads into 2009 as the nation’s second-leading returning wide receiver based on receiving yards.  Last year the Dallas, Texas native recorded 108.23 yards per game as he had 92 catches for 1,407 yards and 15 touchdowns.  Both his yardage total and touchdown numbers were school single-season records.

Stuckey, a senior, was KU’s lone All-Big 12 First Team selection a year ago.  He recorded 98 tackles, five interceptions, seven passes broken up, two fumbles forced and one fumble recovery last year.  Stuckey led the team in interceptions and was second in tackles and passes broken up.  His 12 passes defended (seven breakups and five interceptions) tied for the team lead.

Conclusion of the KU AD press release and full team listing after the jump...

Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford was named the preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year.  Baylor defensive tackle Phil Taylor was selected as the Newcomer of the Year.

The annual Big 12 Football Media Days will be held in Irving, Texas, July 27-29 with Kansas taking part on Tuesday, July 28.  Live video coverage will be featured each day on Big12Sports.com.
