Tony Thompson hit a grand slam in the top of the third inning in Kansas' Big-12 Tournament game vs. Baylor.  The homerun was Thompson's 19th of the season, setting a new school record.  The single season homerun record had previously been held by Travis Metcalf, set in 2003.  Thompson now has 78 RBI's on the year, the second highest single season total in KU history.  Josh Kliner brought in 85 in 1996 to set the record.  Counting today's hits Thompson has collected 168 total bases on the year.  This is also a school record, passing Kliner's total of 161, which was also set in 1996.

Thompson, a sophomore third baseman, entered the game hitting .370/.425/.718.

Thompson's grand slam cut the BU lead down to 6-4.  Thompson also hit a single in the 2nd inning.  Watch the rest of the game live here.
