As all of you know, RCT is but a small part in something much bigger. SB Nation, as a whole, consists of well over 100 blogs, and today, it took a step up in the sports information world.
Just as the title says, news-conglomerate Yahoo! is teaming up with SB Nation. But, instead of attempting to find the right words to say as far as the details go,I'll just take it straight from the man who runs this whole thing, Jim Bankoff:
Today we want to welcome some new members to our flourishing communities. SB Nation and our friends at Yahoo are partnering to give Yahoo Sports audiences one click access to our sites and content.
...
Relevant pages of Yahoo Sports will now feature contextual links to specific SB Nation communities. Many other pages of Yahoo Sports will feature SB Nation content and links. The great news is that more sports fans will be introduced to SB Nation sites.
If you want to see what it looks like, head on over to the Chiefs or Royals Yahoo! sites. It really is pretty awesome; it's an SB Nation, complete with logo, box-type-thing that links to content.
They are doling these out in phases, and college blogs (and other non-team-specific blogs) were left out of the initial phase. However, all MLB, NBA, NHL and NFL sites should be up-and-running, so go check it out if you wish.
From our point of view, here at RCT, little changes. Once our box pops up, there is sure to be a significant influx in traffic and, hopefully, readership and commenting. Now, we all know that not everyone who visits Yahoo! team pages likes to play nice, so I just ask all of you to try and not get into CAPS LOCK arguments, or anything, with the newcomers.
I expect little to change. In fact, nothing content-wise should change, just the place will grow some.
The readership the grow, the participation will grow, and the awesomeness will grow.
Hopefully, at least.
