DeAndre Liggins is Interested in Kansas

While Self just got his first commit in Releford (more on him later today), he is wasting no time chasing after his second. While bigger names in Willie Warren and Greg Monroe remain on our radar, Self is targeting the somewhat lesser known variety, namely Chicago native DeAndre Liggins. Liggy has narrowed his list down to four teams in Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis and Illinois and has visited Lawrence and Champaign. And so far, he has a clear favorite:

''I really like Kansas over Illinois,'' Liggins said. ''I liked their tradition. Their atmosphere is crazy. I like the way Bill Self and the guys treated me. At Illinois, they treated me good, too. I just like Kansas better.''

SC is putting in a good word for Kansas being a Chicago native himself as is Derrick Rose who is on his way to Memphis from the Windy City. Liggy is well liked by Rivals, receiving 5 stars, a 6.0 rating (highest being 6.1),  and is rated as the 3rd best point guard in the Class of 2008 and the 18th best player overall. Not exactly of the lesser known category as I was talking about earlier, but still not as nationally regarded as Monroe. He would be another combo guard to help replace Rush and I would imagine he would see significant playing time from day one. He could even start in place of Rush in the season opener with Releford being his backup.
