KU Baseball Update: Batting

Not surprising, given the Chicago State series, the Jayhawks had a very good week at the plate. In five games they scored 53 runs, hit 8 homeruns and stole 11 bases. On the season KU is 47 for 59 in stolen base attempts, a very healthy sucsess rate of 79.7%.

Some individual performances of note: Murphy had a great week, four stolen bases and nine hits. Morrison collected 10 RBI's by himself. Brock had a tough week at the plate but he did hit a homerun and stole four bases. Ryne Price hit two homeruns and drove in eight. Afenir, not to be outdone, duplicated Ryne's weekly output. Pinch-hitting specialist Eric Snowden got his batting average back up to .400 and drove in three runs. Ellrich not only picked up two hits in three at bats, plus an RBI, but was also named to the very prestigious regional Academic All-American team. This places him under consideration for the National team which will be announced next week. Big congratulations to Justin here.

Ryne Price is greeted at home plate by Eric Morrison and Brock Simpson after hitting a three run homer in Friday's 12-1 victory. Price was only one of several Jayhawks to put up impressive numbers in the last five games.
