KU (22-26) vs. Bethany College KS (33-14, NAIA)

The Jayhawks play Bethany College Wednesday at Hoglund at 6:00PM.  Bethany is an NAIA school located in Lindsborg, Kansas (about 20 miles SW of Salina) with an enrollment of 500 students, 12 of which hail from foreign shores the school's website informs.  As the school was founded by Swedish-Lutheran settlers in 1881 their team name is the Swedes.

The Swedes should not be taken too lightly by the Jayhawks.  This is a team with an impressive record (33-14) and they did give Wichita State a game on Monday, loosing 13-6.  Jayhawk fans at KUSports.com write that the Swedes are a team with an attitude who like to trash opponents.  Maybe all of this will add up to an interesting game.

As a team Bethany is hitting .378 and scoring 6.9 runs per game.  Their pitching is not too shabby either, team ERA of 4.57.  If you want to dig into their stats further here is their team home page.

No word yet on KU starters.  My guess would be that Marcin or Ashwood gets the nod on a designated staff night.

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The University of Kansas has cancelled its baseball game scheduled for Wednesday with Bethany College due to rain. The Jayhawks were supposed to face the Swedes at 6 p.m. as a make up of an earlier game which was cancelled. This marks the 13th time this season that the Jayhawks have postponed or cancelled a game due to the weather. Kansas will travel to Sunflower Showdown rival Kansas State at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the first of a three-game series, which will conclude in Lawrence Saturday at 3 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.
