KU (18-20, 4-8) vs. Baylor (19-16, 4-8)

Baylor will be visiting KU this weekend for a three game series.  The weather is pretty dirty out there but as long as all goes as planned here are the first pitch times and the pitching match-ups.

Friday 4PM: Nick Czyz (2-5, 4.41 ERA) vs. Jeff Mandel (4-5, 4.32 ERA)
Saturday 1PM: Zach Ashwood (3-3, 6.08 ERA) vs. Randall Linebaugh (2-4, 4.65 ERA)
Sunday 1PM: Andy Marks (3-3, 6.98 ERA) vs. Kendal Volz (4-1, 5.35 ERA)

This in an extremely important series for the Jayhawks for reasons explained earlier this week in the "Bracketology" story.  This year Baylor fields a decent baseball team, but they certainly have slipped down a notch from their excellent 2004 and 2005 play.

While looking over the Game Notes supplied by the baseball office I was shocked by one statistic.  In the all time series Baylor leads KU 31-4!  Has it really been that lopsided?

While this is a rather brief series preview that in no way reflects the importance of this series.  I have a pretty full work load this week and am trying to get as much done today as possible so I can be at the game this evening.  Rain will fall off and on throughout the day according to the LJWorld, and it looks like the game time temperature will be around 40 degrees.  No fun.  Saturday looks clear but no warmer.  If it is still drizzling late this afternoon I wouldn't mind a double-header on Saturday.  Sunday might be the best day weather wise.  Clear skies and temperature in the upper 50's.   That's almost baseball weather.

Scheduale Change. From the Baseball office - Friday's game has been canceled. KU has moved the start time of its Saturday game with Baylor to 2:30 p.m. The Jayhawks and Bears will square off in a single game today and play a doubleheader at a time to be determined on Sunday.
