Jayhawk Women End 3 Game Losing Streak

The University of Kansas women's basketball team snapped a 3 game losing streak by beating Santa Clara 78-68. The 78 points posted by the Jayhawks was a season high and they had averaged just 58.5 points a game coming into the game. They were coming off of a 3 game losing streak after losing @ Wisconsin and two home games against South Dakota State and ranked California. The reason for the 20 point scoring spike was pure shooting percentage, as they shot 56 percent compared to their season average of 36.2 percent.

The Lady 'Hawks are freshman laden this season, evident by 5'9" freshman guard Kelly Kohn led the team yesterday with a career high 19 points. Coach Bonnie Hendrickson does have the luxury of a deep bench, as Kohn (36 minutes) was the only player to play over 25 minutes and that 45 of the 78 points were scored by players coming off of the bench. The next test is on Thursday night on the road in Indiana.

Tomorrow night will be the first Jayhawks game since this blog started up as we host the Winston Salem State Rams at 7:00 PM EST.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
