Open Game Thread : Game #31 : #6 Kansas (27-3) @ Texas A&M (22-8)

A big game for the Jayhawks, to prove they can win in hostile road environments and strengthen their case for a #1 seed, but an even bigger one for the bubble-bound Texas A&M Aggies. A home win against the Jayhawks would probably clinch an NCAA bid for Turgeon's club, with a loss forcing a win or two in Kansas City next week.

Sorry for the complete inactivity this week, I finally got my computer back Thursday and have been catching up with other stuff before turning attention to this blog.

Following today's game, we will go way back in my memory bank and discuss the awesome KU-K State game first, then the KU-Texas Tech demolition, then the Aggie game. And starting on Sunday, we begin looking ahead to March Madness and all that it entails, so yea.

BEAK EM!!!
Here we go boys!!! Looks like USC should win comfortably, so hopefully no late switchover to the game. Looking forward to D Block vs. Joseph Jones matchup.

And as I write this, Stanford just hits a three. Of course they do.

LAME
Billy Packer? BOOOOOOOOO!

Why does a guy that hates college basketball get to be a part of the premier announcing team?

i like the way we are playing...
and like the officiating too.

they are letting both teams play, like what should happen in college basketball, and not controllin the game.

deandre jordan, for all the preseason hype, looks like A&M's third best big and not really ready for big 12 play, much less NBA play.

if we keep playing like we are right now, we should be OK.

yikes.
so much for the well-officiated game.

no really bad calls, but lots of contact going back and forth, and they are still feeling the need to call ticky-tacks.

on the same thread, i havent heard a fan base boo as much as A&M's all year long.

seriously. every single maybe-call and boos rain down from the bleachers if there is no whistle.

wow.
i just left the KU game (to be watched in a second) to watch the end of the cal-ucla game.

for the second game in a row, Pac 10 refs absolutely gift-wrapped a victory and handed it to the bruins. absolute and complete BS.

i cant wait to see how ucla plays after they stop having Pac 10 refs and actually have to play without an advantage.

maybe i am overblowing it, but that was two consecutive absolutely horrendously horrible calls in two consecutive games for ucla.

i just cant believe that a team can get two calls like that two games in a row...

Post Game Impressions
Biggest thing I learned today: Collins is back, baby. He's going to be a crucial weapon the rest of the way.

DA simply cannot be single teamed in the post. I doubt he'll see another team try to defend him that way again, but if he does, pencil him in for another huge game.

I love how we don't have to depend on the 3 pointer to beat good teams- that'll be a huge asset in the tournament.

The only problem I saw today was a little problem with the guards finishing their drives, but that's nitpicking. Ultimately, we proved we could beat a quality team on the road, which was crucial. Especially if we end up out West with those lucky-ass Bruins, or in Raliegh against Roy's boys.

BIG 12 CHAMPS!!! ROCK CHALK!!!

Hoglund
The outfield scoreboard updated the score of the basketball game about every five minutes during the baseball game.  The basketball team was getting some nice cheers from the crowd at Hoglund.

Good day to be a Jayhawk.
