Open Thread: Game #1 Central Michigan (0-0) at Kansas (0-0)

Here we are, finally. Football is little more than an hour away, and while TV is not an option for anyone football is still here. The news of the day, and quite possibly the season, is Appalachian State upsetting #5 Michigan in the Big House 34-32. It is the biggest upset in my lifetime and, according to some, the biggest upset in the history of college football. It was quite a spectacle to watch, they out-played Michigan, pure and simple, and even though they gave up the lead late they ended up on top. I just hope our game isn't that exciting and we can put it away handily.

VS.
Who: Central Michigan 0-0 (0-0) VS. Kansas 0-0 (0-0)
When: 6:00 PM Central
Where: Memorial Stadium (50,071)

TV: NONE
Radio: Lazer.com
AP Preview

That's all, 48 minutes to game time.

great play by laptad and harris
two true freshman. forces a punt. so, our offense sucked but our defense is playing pretty good...the usual. hey mark: "GIVE THE BALL TO SHARP!!!"

by rockchalk on Sep 1, 2007 6:13 PM CDT reply actions

derek fine is playing...
sharp still hasnt touched the ball. i like going for it on 4th down, i would have done the same. in other news: muzzurrah is being driven on by illinois, with muzzurrah up 40-34... "you might be a bad coach if you lose to ron zook with MORE TALENT"

by rockchalk on Sep 1, 2007 6:18 PM CDT reply actions

the brandon mcanderson show
maybe sharp doesnt need to get the ball...

by rockchalk on Sep 1, 2007 6:19 PM CDT reply actions

aqib talib just caught a screen pass
warriner is pulling out all of the stops.

i mean, besides using jake sharp...

TD DEREK FINE!!!!
6-0 hawks.

derek fine and brandon mcanderson were the keys to that drive, mcanderson more so.

good start to the year, hopefully we can roll CMU over...

blakeley started instead of haselhorst
but haselhorst WILL play today.

3rd and 10 for CMU....didnt get it, suckers.

it would be nice to score this drive...

surprise, surprise
sharp gets the ball, runs for 8  yards.

GET JAKE THE BALL!!!

im a big fan of both him and carmon boyd, and while i love mcanderson i would rather see those two.

first down on a completion to dexton fields.

sharp runs again for 8 yards...
it seems like we can run on these guys. like, easily. so, while reesing has played pretty well so far, lets stick to the ground game, eh?

TD DEZMON BRISCOE!!!
we really are moving the ball well against CMU.

good debut for warriner's offense, we have looked almost unstoppable thus far. hopefully dezmon has plenty more of those left in him...

bad defense to start out the drive
but we semi-recover forcing 4th and 10. they are going for it from our 35, we gotta stop them here.....pooch punt. lame. OK offense, we have 99 yards to go for a TD this time. give sharp the ball and we got it...

"OH WHAT A CATCH!!" -- bob davis
most emotion ive seen from bob davis... 21 yards to marcus henry on 3rd and 3, big, big play.

by rockchalk on Sep 1, 2007 6:44 PM CDT reply actions

just to put some stats up here...
we have ran the ball 11 times in the first quarter for 82 (!!) yards. that is an average of 7.5 yards a carry. i miss cornish, of course, but it looks like we will be alright without him...

by rockchalk on Sep 1, 2007 6:47 PM CDT reply actions

we punted...
and after a personal foul on backup S justin thornton CMU has good field position.

this is a big stop, we cant let them get back in it...

3rd and 4...incomplete pass, theyre gonna have to pass. suckers.

by rockchalk on Sep 1, 2007 6:52 PM CDT reply actions

we punted....again.
now they get the ball back, we need another stop.

i want to shut them out the first half...

by rockchalk on Sep 1, 2007 6:58 PM CDT reply actions

TD MARCUS HENRY!!!!
henry has had a good game. sorry for not being as frequent, i am reading michigan forums and laughing at the comments. some are claiming that they will go 0-12 now, while everyone else is picking possible replacements. oh, and they think that can get one of bill cowher or jon gruden. are we gonna have the alabama search all over again? i love it when schools like michigan lose, because they arent used to losing games like this so they all freak out in different ways once it happens. all of them.

by rockchalk on Sep 1, 2007 7:09 PM CDT reply actions

PUNT RETURN TD!!!
and that should more or less make us feel comfortable. really comfortable.

return by an unknown quantity, as the radio guys refuse to say his name (not a shocker with bob davis in the booth).

raimond pendleton returned it, 28-0 good guys.

by rockchalk on Sep 1, 2007 7:15 PM CDT reply actions

90 yards to go on offense
less than 6 minutes left in the half.

lets just spend the rest of the half and score a TD, making it 35-0. that would probably do it...

by rockchalk on Sep 1, 2007 7:22 PM CDT reply actions

first down marcus herford
his first catch of the day. we still have plenty of time...

reesing has looked very good thus far, hopefully he plays like this (like the rest of our team) all year long...

by rockchalk on Sep 1, 2007 7:26 PM CDT reply actions

TD AQIB TALIB!!!!
a do-everything player on our team, apparently.

single-handedly keeping the secondary afloat isnt enough for talib, he wants to run go routes on offense...

great throw by reesing, 35-0 good guys.
