Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Afternoon Wrapup

Here is what is going on in the world of the Jayhawk:

To start things off, I want to congratulate the Kansas men's golf team for making the NCAA Tournament. We had made the Tournament 8 years running before failing to reach there last season. Our return to greatness came this year, however, led by Seniors Gary Woodland and Tyler Docking. We are the 20th ranked team of the 27 in the field and will be in the Midwest regional along with 9 other Big 12 schools. If you want more golf coverage, head on over to Waggle Room, the local golf blog.

I know it's a little late, but the SB Nation Sports Report has moved from its Sunday night spot to a Tuesday night slot, starting in about 30 minutes. Even if you don't catch this in time, you can always catch up and watch a rebrodacast at your convenience. Here is the official plug:

The podcast for SB Nation, The SB Nation Sports Report, is on-air tonight at 9pm Eastern (6pm Pacific) hosted by BigBlueShoe and TheSportsGuru. Please tune in and listen if you can. We'd love participation and interaction. We'd like you to call us, or chat with us at the site, and tell us our opinions are full of shit and are meaningless. Our show immediately follows Peter Bean's (of Behind the Steel Curtain and Burnt Orange Nation) and Orson's Every Day Should Be Saturday Live show.

Guests this week: Blez from AN; Scott from Bad Left Hook and Camden Chat.

Topics: BB Day (Barry Bonds Day), 44-year-old vampire pitching for the Yankees, how Floyd Mayweather actually LOST his fight with Oscar, and much, much more.

This happened awhile ago and I never mentioned it, but I guess better late than never. The first signee of the 2008 Kansas Jayhawk football recruting class (quite an intro, huh?) is Sean Ransburg, an 'athlete' from Harrisonville, Missouri. He ran a 4.5 in the 40 yard dash, which is very impressive no matter where he plays. Last season he ran for 1,300 yards and threw for 1,500 yards, so we might have a running QB option off the bench in 08 and beyond. While he doesn't have the potential to be an every-down, starting QB (he is a zero star according to Rivals, one according to Scout and is only 6'1") he could be a trick-play specialist. He could play WR, RB or defensive back for the Jayhawks, as well as a member in some trick play sets.

Just to give you a head's up, I plan on doing a '100 Reasons Kansas WON'T Win the 2008 National Championship' to preview the season, starting 100 days out from September 1's meeting with the Central Michigan Chippewas. I will preview each game in some way or another as well as each position inside of the 100 reasons, hopefully I can pull it off.

That's all I have for now, hopefully I'll get Kleinnman's season recap up in the next day or so.

ROCK CHALK!
