Jayhawk Nation

Kansas Jayhawk news has been plentiful today, so let's get started.

First off, the big news of the day. The Kansas-Oklahoma State game will be televised nationally at 7 PM on ABC. We will hopefully be sitting at 9-0, maybe even with a chance to move into the Top 5 in the BCS at stake for the game in Stillwater. I have a confession to make: I am legitimately scared of the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Adarius Bowman and Co. burned us up last season, and as good as Kendrick Harper was last Saturday in the running game, both he and Chris Harris are still struggling a little with the passing game. Big, big test, and I wouldn't be shocked were we to lose.

Todd Reesing is one of 15 finalists for the Davey O'Brien Award, annually given to the best QB in the nation. Re-read that. Kansas has a QB nominated as a candidate to be the best QB in the nation. THE NATION! You can vote here (after registering). And best of all, Todd Reesing is currently second, trailing only Tim Tebow.

Our next game is against Nebraska. It's true. And their starting QB, or ex-starting QB as it were, Sam Keller is out for the season, meaning that he will not play on Saturday. Good for us, I guess, although it just creates more pressure to crush the Cornhuskers. I don't like pressure.

That's it.

More game recapping coming later tonight, and I will take a look at our chances of getting to the National Championship game sometime this week.

ROCK CHALK!

Still nervous
I can definitely see this team winning out but I think they could easily lose any of their remaining games.

Nebraska looks a little tougher after last week.  They definitely played with a lot of pride but how much of that was based on Texas being a little overrated and have the Huskers truly righted the ship or are all of the same problems still there?  It's going to help coming home and the crowd is going to be jacked up big time.

Oklahoma State doesn't have the same passing attack they had last year but they certainly have a ton of talent on offense.  I think if KU can shut down the run better than K-State and some other teams did (which they should do) they will come out with a win.  OSU's defense is really, really bad.  If Reesing plays well they should get a ton of yards through the air.  Freeman threw for 400 yards against them and K-State was really unlucky to lose that game.

Iowa State.  If anybody knows the role of the spoiler it's them after watching Mizzou and KU upset them to keep them out of the Big 12 Championship in consecutive years and then upsetting Mizzou in the finale last year.  Can't take this one for granted as they've looked a lot better the last two weeks.

Mizzou...I'm curious to see how they do in Boulder and Manhattan.  Last weekend took a little bit of the shine off of them after being outgained by Iowa State and watching Tech go down to CU in Lubbock.  This game is still a long way off but the coolest thing is that I'm pretty sure the Hawks will have a shot to win the North even if they lose the next two games.

Confident
I'm reasonably confident our defense can hold down any run game that nebraska will be forced to use because their quarterback is out.

O'Brian Voting
I helped work a little magic over on facebook.  You will see that Reesing is now 100+ votes over Tebow.
