Kansas alum Brian Hanni will be returning to his alma mater in the fall of 2016 as the new "Voice of the Jayhawks" per a news release by Kansas Athletics. Hanni is replacing Bob Davis, who retired at the end of the 2015-16 basketball season. Davis had been KU's play-by-play for football and men's basketball since 1984.
Hanni is a Topeka native who graduated from KU in 2002. He is credited as one of the creators of "Rock Chalk Sports Talk" on KLWN in Lawrence, a show he hosted from 2002-2012. The show has been broadcast on the Jayhawk Radio Network since 2008.
During his first stint in Lawrence, Hanni did KU baseball as well as women's basketball. He left for the play-by-play job at Texas Tech in 2012.
Now back in Lawrence, Hanni will broadcast football and men's basketball games as well as take over duties for hosting "Hawk Talk" with Bill Self and David Beaty.
Hanni is currently in Omaha, Nebraska with Texas Tech at the College World Series. You can check out some of his other calls on YouTube (samples below) and you can follow him on Twiter, @BHanni
