Our esteemed writer dnoll5 may be right: there's not a lot of matchups this weekend to get excited about. Only two games this weekend feature matchups where both teams are ranked.
The weekend kicks off Thursday with two east coast games: East Carolina hosts UConn and Virginia Tech hosts the Miami Hurricanes.
Friday night is a little more interesting, but I'm guessing the casual sports fan will be tuned into the World Series and not any of the four matchups on tap for college football that evening. Cincinnati hosts South Florida, South Alabama hosts Troy, Boise State hosts BYU, and California hosts Oregon.
On Saturday, every single game out there does not involve your Kansas Jayhawks, freeing you to gorge yourself on college football during the day and have some World Series for dessert. The only even kind of interesting early game is Texas @ Kansas State. The problem is, I'm not sure who I hate more. Afternoon games aren't much better. There's Michigan-Michigan State (if you're into that sort of thing) and West Virginia-Oklahoma State. This might be a good time to catch the undefeated Thundering Herd of Marshall since there probably won't be anything better going on.
Prime time features the only games with two ranked squads squaring off, as Ole Miss travels to Baton Rouge and LSU. Utah hosts Southern Cal afterward, so that's not really "prime time." During the evening/nighttime hours there are also a bunch of SEC games and a couple of Pac-12 games, so therefore, I don't care, Go Royals. After the Royals have gone up 3-1 in the Series vs the Giants, feel free to tune into Nevada @ Hawaii, which starts around 11 PM Kansas time.
As usual, all times in the chart are EASTERN because I'm lazy. Happy football watching!
