Duel of the Underdogs: Conference Basketball Contest

Everyone knows it's more fun to root for the underdogs, so here's a contest that gives you a reason to. Except, while you want your underdogs to win, you don't want them to win too much. This contest isn't about picking winners, it's about guessing the best of the rest.

Hopefully it spice up the conference season a little, give us some reason to care about other conference races, and help us root for those teams who might be a little neglected by the usual media coverage of conference play.

RULES

Pick one team from each of the following 11 major and mid-major conferences:

  1. Big Ten
  2. Big 12
  3. Big East
  4. ACC
  5. Pac 12
  6. SEC
  7. American Athletic Conference
  8. A10
  9. West Coast Conference
  10. Mountain West Conference
  11. Missouri Valley Conference

Each time one of your 11 teams wins a game, you get a point. Whoever has the most points at end of the regular season wins the contest. BUT HERE'S THE CATCH: If a team gets the most wins in its conference (outright or tied), then that team has "gone bust" and you retroactively get ZERO points for that team. They weren't an underdog after all. So you want to pick the teams that will get you the most wins--without being in too much danger of winning their conference.

Ties will be decided by average FT% of picked non-bust teams, and then by coin toss.

Edit: To clarify, it will be FT% in conference play alone.

HOW TO ENTER

Pick your 11 teams, and email the list to me at cheepicus@hotmail.com . Please mention your SBNation login in your email.

If you pick the same 11 teams as someone else, whoever's email I got first will be accepted and the second person will be asked to change their picks until they are unique.

Here's a link to the Sagarin rankings by conference to help people make their picks and/or remember who the hell is in the AAC.

Deadline for entries is before KU plays Oklahoma on Wednesday.
