It is amazing to see a home lost bring all the idiots out of the woodwork - and that's just the LJW. Fortunately, RCT exists with far greater (generally) intelligent thought. There definitely is a haze/fog/Phog? over the team at the moment, but the sky is not falling. So here are my thoughts, though admittedly I'm not far removed from the other idiots. Only barely enough to realize that the sky is not falling. Please critique.
1. EJ really has lost his confidence, and needs to get his head back in the game. There is a reason that OSU had backed off EJ at the arc on the last possession, or 6 reasons (1-7).
2. For all EJ's warts, this game was just as lost when Forte was caught in a trap by 4 Jayhawks, and someone gave him a get out of jail free card that sent the 90% FT shooter to his gimme pts. Unfortunately, a 5 second count would have just given them the ball on the possession arrow, but still better than sending the 90% FT shooter to the line for the 2nd straight possesson. Smartest play of Smart's was getting the ball to the best FT shooter.
3. It also seems worth mentioning that the last possession of both halves ended with the a TO, though I believe the first was a matter of Tharpe not getting to his spot (3) to receive the pass. The opposing D's are figuring out the O and generally fouling it up.
4. Figuring out the O is also evident in the # of wing passes that are being jumped for steals and break away layups. Way too many lately, and that's on the whole O. IMO, it shows how predictable the O has become, and maybe gets to the lack of a lead PG - the one who is going to find the chink in the D. There is always a gap, whether it is the one the play is designed to expose or the one that is created by overplaying to break up the known tendancy.
So that's my non-Super Bowl thought for the day.
