Kansas Moves to No. 1 in USA Today Coaches Poll

If polls matter to you, here's the latest and greatest on Kansas and the national rankings.

When Kansas tips off its ESPN Big Monday contest at West Virginia, the Jayhawks will do so as the No. 1 team in the country as the USA Today Coaches Poll moved Kansas into the top spot on Monday afternoon.

This marks the first No. 1 ranking for the Jayhawks since Feb. 14, 2011 and the 20th time overall under the direction of head coach Bill Self.

Kansas (18-1, 6-0) received 16 first-place votes, topping the 14 votes awarded to Michigan (19-1). It was the closest finish for No. 1 since the poll of Feb. 28, 2011. Kansas was also involved that week, finishing four points behind Ohio State.

Michigan holds the top-spot in the Associated Press Poll, also released on Monday afternoon.
