Kansas hosted a good number of recruits this past weekend with several of them coming from the junior college ranks. Charlie Weis has already shown that he will recruit and add talent by any means necessary and after this weekend the Jayhawks have potentially landed a solid addition to the defensive line.
Jayhawkslant.com is reporting that Hinds Community College defensive end Andrew Bolton has committed to Kansas following his visit over the weekend. Bolton was one of three players to attend the game from Hinds and he claims offers from Kansas, LSU, Iowa, Mississippi State and more. If all those are legitimate, that's pretty good company and a nice set of offers for the 6'3" 280 pound end out of Mississippi.
One would have to assume that playing time is a huge factor here. Combine that with the willingness of the Kansas staff to play transfers immediately when they earn there spot and it is probably a fairly attractive option for some. There is obviously a long way to go until Bolton is locked up, and with his offer list this will be one worth keeping an eye on.
Hinds Community College is currently ranked 6th in the National Junior College poll. The two other players reportedly on campus were defensive tackle Tedarian Johnson and linebacker Mitchell Hoskins. All Hinds players have strong offer sheets. If Kansas can convince the trio to stay together it could provide a pretty big lift to the defensive depth next season.
