While it seems unlikely that TCU will hold up to this level of play throughout the duration of the season, it's certainly possible that they could come close against a Kansas team that still hasn't found there way.
The Horned Frogs are scary on paper. The defense leads the country in almost every significant category and they are extremely efficient on the offensive end. Obviously we have to preface that with the fact that they played Grambling a week ago, but they did exactly what you want your team to do in that situation and that is dominate.
Kansas on the other hand is actually taking a step backwards when compared to last year from an offensive standpoint. That's a little disappointing for a lot of reasons. An experienced offensive line, a new quarterback and coaching elevated those expectations but they are already taking a step back through two games against what should have been inferior talent.
On a slightly more positive note the defense is improved. The bad side of that is the same thing that makes the offensive struggles disappointing. These two games were our easiest two opponents so we should be better. The defense will be tested in a big way this week and almost every week from here on out. Hopefully the improvement wasn't a complete false hope, but there's no sugar coating the fact that it get's much more difficult from here.
It's all about competing. We said it last year and I think at this point we're all there again. Charlie Weis needs to find a way to get this team to the point of competitiveness even if that doesn't translate to more wins immediately. A close contest this weekend would go a long way toward restoring that hope, a win would probably conjure up memories of Georgia Tech and the false hope that created during Turner Gill's first year. Every game is an adventure of late, hopefully at some point they start becoming enjoyable adventures.
