Best Conference Realignment Scenarios

I know that everyone is probably sick of conference realignment talks, though i have one that preserves most of the classic rivalries while setting up new ones that I'm anybody would want to see whether in football or basketball. I propose that all 120 BCS schools (Plus 10 FCS teams) should form 8 conferences a 16 team football playoff system, and keep the 68 team NCAA basketball tournament the same. Each of the 8 conferences will have two, 8 team divisions.

For example in the "Big 16" KU is in the west division. they would play there 7 west division teams, plus 3 teams from the east side and 2 non conference games. in basketball KU would play there division twice for 14 games plus 8 games from east division for 22 games, then based on a 31 game schedule the other 9 would be non-conference games.

so with all of the technical talk out of the way, here is my proposal for the new 8 "BCS"conferences.

ACC:

North:

Boston College, Uconn, PITT, Syracuse, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and Virginia Tech

South:

North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Florida State, and Miami

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SEC:

West:

Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Louisville, LSU, Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Ole' Miss

East:

Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Auburn, and Alabama

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Big 16:

West:

Kansas, K-State, Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Missouri, Northwestern, and Illinois

East:

Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Purdue, MSU, Michigan, OSU, and Penn State

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pac 16:

North:

Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Boise State, Utah, Cal, and Stanford

South:

USC, UCLA, ASU, Arizona, Colorado, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Baylor

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conference USA:

West:

SMU, Houston, TCU, Tulsa, Western Kentucky, Arkansas State, Tulane, Memphis, and Southern Miss

East:

UCF, USF, UAB, ECU, Old Dominion*, Cincinnati, Navy, and Rutgers

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mountain West:

West:

Hawaii, SDSU, SJSU, Fresno State, Nevada, UNLV, BYU, and Utah State

East: Wyoming, Idaho, Texas State*, Montana*, Colorado State, Air Force, NMSU, and New Mexico

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MAC:

West:

Youngstown State*, Bowling Green, Miami (OH), Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Ball State, and Northern Illinois

East:

Toledo, Akron, Ohio, Kent State, Buffalo, Temple, Marshall, and UMass*

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunbelt:

East:

Middle Tennessee State, Troy, Florida Atlantic, FIU, Georgia State*, Charlotte*, Richmond*, and Appalachian State

East:

UTSA*, Rice, UTEP, North Texas, Western Kentucky, LA Tech, LA Monroe, and LA Lafayette

(Notre Dame & Villanova will play basketball in the ACC, Marquette, DePaul, Seton Hall & Georgetown will play basketball in Conference USA, Providence & St.Johns will play basketball in the MAC.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the football tournament there would be 8 auto bid seeds and 8 at large bids. 8 teams on each side of the bracket. and for the NCAA basketball tournament there would be 28 auto bids with 40 at large bids.

this is my first article on a blog so please excuse if i have made any rookie mistakes or grammar errors. feedback would be appreciated.
