Welcome to Rock Chalk Talk and your open game thread for the Kansas Jayhawks vs the Baylor Bears. Big game for the Jayhawks. A loss and they'll need to win out to ensure a share of the league title. A win and the fight continues for an outright possibility. Baylor will be looking for revenge, Kansas is looking to rebound. The last time Kansas lost back to back games was 2006. This will be one of the bigger challenges to that streak.

Happy that this is an early game.
Typically I prefer the late games as I’m a night owl, but after having to wait what seemed like years for the MU game to start I’m glad this one will get going early.
Must win tonight in order to win the Big XII?

Yes.
I came into the @MU @BU games thinking they win one and lose one. If KU won Saturday, this would be kind of a hangover game, and if they lost, they would want to get rid of that feeling. I’m actually pretty confident tonight. For some reason, PJ3 just doesn’t scare me.

Looking at some other sites, it seems the Recommended FanPosts are the only ones showing up.
For instance, over at Royals Review, I see 4, but they’re all under the rec’d fanposts and not recent fanposts. Same with Arrowhead Pride.
I bet if we rec’d another fanposts to get it up there, it would show up.

Good recovery here.
Helps that Baylor has missed some shots, but our defense has been a bit better here. If we could clean up our offensive execution, we’d be in great shape.

Not to take anything away from Withey,
but he’s gotten a lot of dump offs for easy layups or dunks. And FTs. He’s played very well, though. The zone Baylor is playing has helped a lot. A LOT.

They were so focused on T-Rob...
and so were we. So much that we were trying to force too much to go through him when Baylor was specifically taking him away. I think once we got over that we started to move the ball around the zone much better.

He usually rises to the occasion in the big moments, but his instinct to do so too often manifests itself in him becoming a ball handler.

I really wanted that steal he almost had in the first half just for the chance for him to get an uncontested layup
Yeah. He needs to drive a little bit and/or take those two pointers he's been making lately.
We really need him to get it going before the end of the season. Would make our offense much better.

I think he's 4 for his last 4 behind the arc
2-2 in the second half run against MU and 2-2 against in the first half run against BU
I don't really understand why Baylor just goes to sleep on the court for minutes at a time
But it makes it hard to get comfortable against them because, at any time, they could start rotating their zone again and stop jacking up running 15-footers.
I do think that they’re mentally weak, so if we could stretch the lead in the first 5 minutes, they might pack it in.
we can always hold out hope...
that Scott Drew tries to make a strategic adjustment at halftime. Those usually result in a 15 point swing in favor of his opponent.

Just extremely pleased every since about the 5-7 minute mark in the first half. Nice recovery and put away by this team.
Assuming we can hold on and get the win this team just has to keep the eye on the prize. This was a big hurdle, but there are others.

I really think that this Baylor team is mentally fragile
They’re much more likely to lose confidence after a loss than to get angry.
If they get a bad loss in the Big 12 tournament, I can see them going out in a 14-3 upset in the first round.
