Facing Baylor, KU hopes to avoid second straight loss - KansasCity.com
The two straight loss thing doesn't happen often. I'm hoping this is the beginning of an eight game run to close out the year.

What is the Big East anyway? It's like a goulash of institutions trying to remain relevant.

Does Memphis start next year
or the year after that? If next year, does that give WVU the pass to leave?
I always drink the Kool-Aid
Going for #8 in a row!
The Big East can contiunue
to bring in Mid-Majors from coast to coast eventually the whole equasion will fall apart and some 3rd party will come and fix college sports…
Right?
The name of that song played at KC Comets games in the '80's was Giorgio Moroder's "The Chase." Now you know.
Well, that was weird...
The Big East can continue to court Mid-Majors from coast to coast and hopefully this will so upset the balance that the whole structure will fall apart.
At that point, a 3rd party will have to step in a mediate and reorganize college athletics… Right?

I think that there are anti-trust issues with a 3rd party doing that.
Of course, I don’t understand why there aren’t bigger anti-trust issues with the BCS as it is.
I'll give the Big 12 credit
for at least going about the addition/expansion game with some sort of a plan. The Big East seems to be throwing schools against the wall to see if they stick. However, all of this unrest means more delays on the WVU to Big 12 move.
Aweome news for Steven Johnson
That kid will out-work every other kid in the combine. He’ll get drafted.

Will he pull a Chris Harris
undrafted to all-rookie?
It’s at least a nice precedence.

Gonna be hard to predict the full field this year. Lots of teams that you can easily argue in or out.
the wife made her southwestern goulash last night
tastes better than awesome and is surprisingly low calorie
My mom made "goulash"
out of elbow macaroni, hamburger, and tomato paste.
Don’t know why, but that is one of my all-time favorite foods.

How weird you mentioned goulash!
This was my favorite dish that my grandmother used to make me when I was a kid. Grandma’s goulash rocked! She passed away a few days ago, but your comment immediately made me think of her.
Anyways, thanks for letting me reminisce a little bit. I appreciate it.
What? A girl who likes sports...INCONCEIVABLE!
i really think the big 12 is getting 6 in.
I write everywhere. You're probably better off following me on twitter
Yeah, 5 seem pretty certain, and OU or UT ought to sneak in
The bubble teams in other conferences are very weak. No conference seems to have great depth this year.
I didn't agree at first, but then I looked at who made it last year and saw that 5 14-loss at-large teams made it in.
I think Texas ends up with 12 or 13 losses, and that will probably get them in this year.

did ESPN have a misprint on their schedule last night?
are we really playing the early game tonight? sucks
it does suck
to be fair, the other two games are pretty high profile as well and traditional rivalry games…my DVR is set, though, with this early start

About time I didn't have to stay up late watching.
Yes, I know it’s my fault that I live in the Eastern Time Zone, but it gets pretty old staying up till midnight on a work night because it always takes me some time after the game before I’m ready to fall asleep. I do feel sorry for all of the Mountain and Pacific time zone hawks though.
I live in the Mountain time zone
and the 7pm mst starts are pretty great. Starting at 5 isn’t quite as nice but I should hopefully hopefully be home in time for tip.

mountain time is perfect for sports imo

"as long as you are not a big east fan"
I didn’t realize those existed outside of Bristol, Connecticut & NYC
Pay heed...
That rocks!
Was thinking (wrong!) that I was going to miss it with an evening (LCoast) meeting, but instead I’ll slip away for a break at the Pub on my way to the meeting and get to watch the game. Sure hope our ’Hawks make it worthwhile.
Tonight can erase all that “upper hand” buisness. We’re tied in the L column and mizzoo still has to play in the Phog. There’s nothing upper handed for them about that. I’m just hoping they can at least keep it close enough so that the network actually shows the whole game, not like a few years ago when they pulled the plug in the middle of the 2nd half. What year was that? ‘08-’09? Ya, b/c the zoo boys we’re saying they had the better year b/c we split the regular season (60-62 & 90-65), then lost in the 3rd round vs. the 4th round of the tourney.
I'm an East Coaster
and I like the late games… but I’m also a night owl, so meh, what are you gonna do?

Self vs Drew
A Google of "Baylor basketball tradition" showed three results, compared to "about 23,600" for "Kansas basketball tradition."
Drew IS their tradition - along with Kim Mulkey
He gets a lot of criticism (some of it warranted) but think about where that program was nine years ago when he showed up. They weren’t allowed to play a non-con schedule his second year and they went o-fer in the league as a result. He’s worked miracles there, pun intended.
Tonight’s game is the third consecutive sellout. Their arena is more than 20 years old and their first sellout was when KU played there the first time in 1997.
Baylor gets a bad rap. They’re a strong school – academically and athletically.
coaches are more than tradition too.
If self-improvement and a long and lucrative pro career are the motivating factors in a high school superstar’s decision, Self has more to sell. Once Marcus and Markieff Morris understood doing it the coach’s way was the only way, they shot up the draft boards and became lottery picks. Robinson, ranked 31st in his class, was considered a "maybe" as an NBA prospect. Most draft projections now have the shorter Robinson, who has learned more in his basketball education, listed ahead of Jones (ranked ninth by Rivals) already branded a potential No. 1 overall pick in HS.
