Kansas Jayhawk News and Notes 2.13.12
Nice weekend away, ready to get back to it with Kansas State tonight. This is a dangerous game and a very key game for this team. I didn't get to watch Saturday but it sounds like the first half was one of those 'if this team plays like that' halves and the second half was a 'what happened' moment. Here's hoping that second half was a wake up call and reminds this group that you can't take the foot off the gas. On to Manhattan.

Jayhawks surpass coach Bill Self’s expectations - KansasCity.com
Surpassed everyone's I would imagine. Would ANYONE have guessed that we would be in the convo for a top seed this year after losing what we did? I know we say it a lot but this is truly one of the better coaching jobs and we've been extremely fortunate to have a NPOY candidate that could lose out on the Big 12 POY award to a teammate.
Stars have come out vs. Kansas, but K-State wants team effort - KansasCity.com
The last two times Kansas State beat Kansas on the basketball court, it had an elite scorer to lean on. K-State is hoping for a similar outcome when Kansas comes to Bramlage Coliseum tonight, but the Wildcats may have to use a different method to get there.

Re: Kansas playing like a number 1 seed…I’m not sure I would go that far just yet but they are definitely trending that way.
Looking at where the rankings are at, which really don’t mean squat as it is but I do think if Kansas runs the table and then does noise in the Big 12 tourney, which they can easily do, then they have a shot at a number 1 seed but I think they will be battling Missouri, Duke and UNC for it. They can take care of Missouri on their own and then Duke/UNC can work itself out but they definitely have a shot.
Ed Snider is a crotchety old fuck.
That is all.
If KU wins the Big 12 outright, I can't really see how they don't get a number 1 seed
And I’m not necessarily thrilled about that prospect
So....
I’m not sure if this is in response to Mizzou’s new shirt or if this has been around a bit. But it’s funny regardless.

I'm on the other side of this fence...
Everyone knows we’ve been dominant – why even acknowledge it…Missouri has never been the mission.

Yeah this is dumb
Besides the Civil War stuff they were rarely worthy rivals in basketball. OU and Texas have both been more relevant in my lifetime.
That totes has to be in response to the Mizzou shirt
The name of that song played at KC Comets games in the '80's was Giorgio Moroder's "The Chase." Now you know.
I love it (that they made a t-shirt)
They beat a lower ranked team at home. They try to rush the court, the party like it is 1999, and they make t-shirts.
HEY MIZZOU – we treat you like lower class retards for a reason!
I always drink the Kool-Aid
Going for #8 in a row!
Just one more
example of soren petro’s point.
I guess I'll stand alone on this one
I kinda dig the shirt. I like the military feel to it. To bad they couldn’t do it instead for winning the conference. It would have been a bad ass shirt for when we went 16-0 back in 2002.
What? A girl who likes sports...INCONCEIVABLE!
I like the fact that donations are also being made from the sales
Proceeds from Mizzou’s “we beat KU that one time” shirt are going to pay the Big 12 exit fee.
yep
that’s why i don’t have a problem with it either. The more money we can raise for those people the better.

Lunardi has us as a 1 in his latest bracket
I really can’t do anything but laugh at this point. HCBS is the best.

Isn't that the truth?
It’s really easy to get complacent and start underrating him sometimes, but he’s nothing short of fantastic. Look at his tournament seeds at Kansas:
4-3-4-1-1-3-1-1
And probably the furthest we could fall this year is to a 3.

Was thinking today that Mizzou should be a No. 1 seed
And it should become the first No. 1 to lose to a 16 seed in its opening round game.
Pretty jazzed about Tevin Shaw
