Time to start out like we did against A&M (First 5 minutes anyway)
And finish like we did against Tech.
Score predictions?
KU 71
OU 62
I think we get some of our energy back with some home cooking, but I fear our opponents are witnessing some examples of defenses that have success limiting our weapons.
I think we are due for a good game
Kind of sleepwalked through games lately. I’m expecting us to play well tonight.
KU 74
OU 60

Nice passing there.
Great thing to have a big guy that can shoot ft’s like Withey.
Feels good right now.
Feels like we’re re-focused after the loss.

Very unselfish by EJ.
Yes, T2 having a bit of a rough game so far

Guys who Bill Self doesn't trust and will likely hurt us on Saturday:
Naadir Tharpe, Kevin Young, Justin Wesley. None can play defense.
Teahan will also be a liability but Self for whatever reasons gives him the benefit of the doubt. I’m thinking it’s just lack of option and at least Teahan might make a three.
Questions, Comments? email me at denverjhawk@hotmail.com
I don't think Wesley and Young are bad defenders,
but they foul an awful lot, which limits their available minutes. They also don’t contribute much on offense, outside the occasional rebound dunk.
Criticize FHOFNCHCBS at your own risk...
either way...
It feels like Self is kind of at a loss with this rotation.
Questions, Comments? email me at denverjhawk@hotmail.com
Young is pretty brutal
he is athletic as hell but has a really slow first step, semi Tyrel Reed syndrome, and I think he gets lost a lot. I figured out I can get video at the law school so I might drag my ass to the library and do a post or two on it. And uh that’s the only reason I need to sit in that library for long periods of time. Yeah.
But Young needs to play a ton because of his offense. I don’t care if he can’t guard me, he’s athletic and moves the ball well. If only he could shoot.
I write everywhere. You're probably better off following me on twitter
he just doesn't seem to have ANY confidence offensively right now.
Questions, Comments? email me at denverjhawk@hotmail.com
that's true
I wonder how much of it is due to his shot not being the greatest

on some level...
I have to think that Self’s quick trigger plays a factor. I don’t fault Self for that because normally we have the luxury of using the bench, but with limited options I just kind of wish he’d let Young play through things every once in awhile.
Questions, Comments? email me at denverjhawk@hotmail.com
desperately need...
both Young and Teahan to play with an ounce of confidence on the offensive end.

Love what Releford is doing.
A hot streak by him heading into Saturday would be helpful. Just wish we could get good Elijah back too.

but I thought they looked improved.
Oh wait, that was against Okie Light I think. Still, they are playing better.

I think they're 7th in efficiency margin in conference play
ahead of the oklahomas and tech. Could be mistaken though. They certainly can defend when they’re going well.

I just feel like our margin for error is slim now and I REALLY want to win the league this year for obvious reasons.

oh it's really slim
and every road game is tough, but we can play bad and win at A&M

I'm not sure we can play bad and win.
Maybe we can play not that great and still win, like we did at Texas.
That was a bad call.
Of course, T-Rob should pretty much never miss a dunk, but still…

Maybe we were spoiled with morningreed
but I just don’t see much to like in Teahan
It's not that I'm lazy; it's that I just don't care.
We've been spoiled with a lot of overachiever types.
Reed, Morningstar, Moody…seems like there were some others back in the early Self years. Savvy players that provided some production. I mean I respect Teahan because he’s a huge KU fan and he came here because he loves Kansas, but he is in a rut right now.
Questions, Comments? email me at denverjhawk@hotmail.com
Could not agree more
The biggest limitation two Teahan is that he is so one dimensional. If he is cold shooting the 3, then he has no game.
It's not that I'm lazy; it's that I just don't care.
His lack of quickness really cripples him.
He’s been in position to get several loose balls tonight and just can’t quite get there.

I feel like the bench production is below what we should be able to expect.
We aren’t great by any means but right now it’s completely disgustingly bad.
Questions, Comments? email me at denverjhawk@hotmail.com
I would say yes.
And it couldn’t come at a worse time.
Questions, Comments? email me at denverjhawk@hotmail.com
Yep
We will need stellar performances against mu and bu to pull out wins. Can’t coast through with a shitty game and expect a win.
It's not that I'm lazy; it's that I just don't care.
all seemed to start sliding after that home Baylor game too.
Questions, Comments? email me at denverjhawk@hotmail.com
I guess the only positive is that we have the ability
something is missing though.
It's not that I'm lazy; it's that I just don't care.
Similar to a normal Self year, our bench is getting shorter.
The problem is we never had a bench to begin with. Production outside of the starting five is absolutely putrid.
Questions, Comments? email me at denverjhawk@hotmail.com
it's kind of funny
a lot of people publicly wondered in 2010 if we had too much depth and if we wouldn’t be better with a shallower pool of players. I think we’re in the midst of a nice experiment there
I write everywhere. You're probably better off following me on twitter
I also think there is a difference between
going 8 deep with talent coming off the bench and going 8 deep because you can’t possibly play your five starters for 40 minutes even though you wish you could.

Exposed for what we are
When TRob and Taylor aren’t en feugo were very beatable
Shit happens when you win championships
We seem to back in our early season fouling habits
Not good as a long term prognostic. If we stat guarding rather than slapping and bumping we’ll be in much better shape
Why can't they play like that all the time?
Or at least a majority of the time?
It's not that I'm lazy; it's that I just don't care.
I think having both Withey and Robinson in there at the same time makes
a big difference.

Cole's sophomore season was rediculous
Good junior year too but that season, he was just a menace on both ends of the floor. He and Collins really carried that team, and carried is putting it lightly.
Shit happens when you win championships
They're becoming more and more similar, at least to my eye.
Withey still doesn’t have the top-o-the-key jumper that Aldrich had, but both are very good foul shooters, excellent shot-blockers, and have decent post-moves. Did Cole have that hook shot?
Criticize FHOFNCHCBS at your own risk...
Yeah, and it was a pretty good little baby hook too
My only objection to the comparison is that WIthey plays next to TRob, while Cole played next to freshman Morri his sophomore year. Big difference to me.

We still have a ton of history with them
We own both in Basketball, sure. Self has lost to them THREE TIMES (which is a ton for him ZOMG). And nothing is funnier than their reaction when they storm into Lawrence actually thinking they have a chance (see this season), get murdered (like they do every year in Lawrence) and then bitch about it.
Problem is, I think Martin has taken that team as far as he can. Without a legitimate star (Clemente, Pullen, Beaseley) his teams don’t make the dance (they are borderline right now with a lot of tough games left).
He has taken KSU from laughingstock (Woolridge in a neck brace…) into a top 5 Big 12 program. I commend him for that, certainly no small feat at all. I just don’t see them ever getting past that. Until he shows me he can win without someone who is possibly the best player in the league (or at least top 3). Especially in a league with Kansas (always going to be the best, not backing down from that statement until we don’t win the league), Texas (down at the moment, will be back) and several other teams similar to KSU.

I watched some of the Thunder game when ours had timeouts and sech
Nick Collison is a gamer. Dude gets so many scrappy offensive boards, sets the best pics, etc. He is so undervalued in the NBA, but if the Thunder won it all he would get the “James Posey X Factor” type love that… James Posey got when the Celtics won it all.
Shit happens when you win championships
84-62
I’ll take it.
This game really depicted what KU is all about. At times, we look like a completely average team. Other times, we look like a team that can run to the Final 4.
Team really reminds me of 2004-2005. No depth, good, experienced starting five, at times looked unstoppable (wins against Kentucky, Texas, Oklahoma State) at times looked like poo (Iowa State, the tournament, Villanova)
Shit happens when you win championships
Good win.
Gonna need a much better first half Saturday.
I feel like the game might be a bit out of our hands
Mizzou is going to jack a gajillion threes. If they are hot, we lose. If they are cold, we win. I think it might be as simple as that.
