Schyler Miles To Kansas: Florida Linebacker Follows Charlie Weis
Charlie Weis was able to steal one out of Florida. In the second signing day announcement for the Jayhawks, linebacker prospect Schyler Miles has selected Kansas over Florida and future Big 12 opponent West Virginia. In a day that is always filled with optimism and hope, this one really rings true because of who Kansas was able to beat out in the process.
Miles is a native of Tampa Florida and Weis was recruiting him while on staff with the Gators. For the Kansas staff to go into Florida and pull an prospect away from the state school is big. Miles is a 6'2" 220 pound inside linebacker prospect that is rated as a high three star prospect by rivals. In addition to his three finalists, Miles held offers from Wake Forest, NC State, Duke and a host of MAC and Big East schools.
Miles provides new defensive coordinator Dave Campo with a solid foundational prospect at the linebacker position and the good news is that Kansas has several other young players already on the roster that could also fit that profile. You could probably go ahead and label this the best player from the high school ranks that has signed with Kansas in the 2012 class.

WOOT!
Didn’t think this was going to happen
The name of that song played at KC Comets games in the '80's was Giorgio Moroder's "The Chase." Now you know.
Tait has up an interesting interview with Miles on KUSports
I was under the impression that we just got in on him because of Weiss’ relationship that was created while at Florida. But during the interview the kid says that the first recruiting letter he ever got was from Kansas as a sophomore. I’m not sure when this interview took place, but he also goes on to list his top 4 schools at the time and we weren’t even mentioned. Love the signing day surprises!
