Ben McLemore has been everything he was advertised to be. McLemore leads the team in scoring with 16.0PPG and I believe he is just about to take off. Gradually McLemore has become more assertive in the offense. After the game against Michigan State McLemore looked like he didn't want to step on the toes of senior leader Elijah Johnson. He only took 7 shots and he made 5 of them. After that game McLemore has taken and made more shots. He has the ability to score in bunches which always seems to put KU on one of their trademark 18-2 runs in games. Though his best trait is his resiliency. Against San Jose State McLemore was awful. McLemore didn't make a three pointer, 0/7, and was only 5/16 from the field. A mere 13 points for the superstar in the making.

The so called superstar freshmen before McLemore wouldn't have bounced back. McLemore did. Against Oregon State McLemore not only made a couple three pointers, 3/4, but he took the ball to the hoop, threw down a rim-shaking dunk on his way to 21 points on 8/14 shooting from the field.

This is kid is special.

So watch him while you can because he will be gone after this year. As of December 4 McLemore is predicted to go 3rd overall in the NBA draft. That would make him the highest draft pick in Bill Self's era at KU. There is no doubt that McLemore's draft stock is on the rise, CBS had him going outside of the lottery before the season. The December 4th mock draft doesn't include the gem of a performance McLemore had against Colorado this saturday. McLemore who only played 30 minutes in this game, most of those points came in the 1st half and early 2nd half, scored a game high 24 points. This time McLemore wasn't on fire from the field, instead he scored 10 of his 24 points from the free throw line. McLemore has shown he can score in just about every way possible which along with his athleticism has NBA scouts lining up with the KU students to watch him play.

The only thing is he hasn't reached his potential at KU. Buckle up and enjoy the flight because soon, very soon, Flight 23 will take off. Though it's destination looks to be in the NBA it may have a layover in Atlanta to collect a ring.
