Tonight we get to watch something pretty neat if you're a Kansas Jayhawk fan, ESPN's 30 for 30 takes an inside look at one man's mission to bring Naismith's original rules of basketball back to Lawrence Kansas.
ESPN's 30 for 30 series has featured some of the best sports stories that ESPN has had to offer in recent years and to have the Jayhawks and this story so prominently featured during tonight's episode is a really great thing for the program and it's fans. Bill Self will be on ESPN this afternoon discussing the upcoming feature, Kansas fans have had their eye on this episode since it was first announced and the fact that Kansas basketball can perhaps eclipse a key presidential debate just weeks before an election is pretty awesome in itself.
I know when these rules went up for auction I was aware that it was happening, I was somewhat aware that Kansas was making a play at them and eventually knew that a Jayhawk friendly group had landed them. How that group came to pass and what it took to put that support together was not something I was aware of. Above is a clip about the inclusion of Dr. Mark Allen, the entire episode should be a fun distraction as we are now just weeks away from basketball season.
Take a look at the above clip provided by ESPN, and we'll use this as a sort of open thread at the request of the community. Enjoy the show, discuss it here at RCT if you like. If past 30 for 30 episodes are any indication, this should shine a bright spotlight on Kansas basketball and I think this story provides for a good spotlight.
