Kansas Basketball 2012: Late Night In The Phog Open Thread

Kansas basketball tips off the 2012-2013 season with Late Night in the Phog tonight. You can watch the event live on Metro Sports in Kansas City, you can follow live on KU All Access or you can catch cut-ins on ESPNU.

As always this is an exciting event because it marks the beginning of the season for Kansas basketball. The Jayhawks are coming off of a season where they earned their eighth straight Big 12 title and finished as the national runner up in Bill Self's second final four.

This year Kansas will be breaking in NINE new players on the roster including Andrew White, Anrio Adams, Zach Peters, Ben McLemore, Jamari Traylor, Landon Lucas, Perry Ellis, Tyler Self and Evan Manning. That's a big group of newcomers and another challenge for Bill Self. Fortunately the Jayhawks return three seniors in Travis Releford, Jeff Withey and Elijah Johnson. The trio was a big part of the Final Four run in 2011-2012 and they will look to lead Kansas to a ninth straight Big 12 title and another tournament run.

Bill Self and Kansas will host a nice group of recruits for Late Night as well including current Jayhawk commits Conner Frankamp and Brannen Green. Other recruits on the docket include Aaron Gordon, Wayne Seldon, Joel Embiid all three are seniors. Elbert Robinson is a 2014 power forward and Jayson Tatum is a 2016 point guard that will also a be in attendance. This is always a big night for the future and a celebration of Kansas basketball.
