It's not a pretty picture. Of course we're sort of getting used to that at this point. I do think it's worth noting that we were pretty much at the bottom of all of college football last year in most of the defensive categories. Take away the Kansas State game and we're doing alright, hell even with the Kansas State game we're better. It's not huge improvement but it's something.

Of course now is when we see the challenges that come with a week in week out Big 12 schedule. How does that defense hold up? This weekend is a huge test and Oklahoma State might be less dynamic but more balanced this year and that presents all sorts of problems on it's own.

Offensively it's almost depressing to see the regression and almost all of it can be attributed to our deficiency in the passing game. It's still hard to believe that everyone missed so badly here. Players, fans, media, coaches, everyone thought the offense would be improved and the defense would be a project. Now neither is a finished product, but it's hard not to look at the offense as the bigger project at this point in time.
