Kansas vs. Oklahoma State: Cowboy Depth Chart Breakdown

Richard Rowe-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Taking a first glance at the Oklahoma State Cowboy depth chart ahead of the Jayhawk's matchup with this weekend.

Kansas takes on Oklahoma State this week and it's a Cowboy team that appears to be in a small transitional phase. Yes this is still a very good team but this is a team that lost Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon, those are huge losses. They are still potent offensively and they are actually probably a stronger unit on the defensive side of the ball, at this point it's just tough to tell exactly what they have because the Cowboys have beaten the bad teams by a wide margin and lost to both quality opponents early. This game isn't likely to tell us much more.

Offense

LT 71 Parker Graham (6-7; 315; Jr; Webb City, MO) - First full year as a starter, started five games in 2011.
69 Devin Davis (6-5; 290; RFr; Nacogdoches, TX)

LG 70 Jonathan Rush (6-4; 305; Sr; Killeen, TX) - Back after starting 2010 but missing 2011 due to injury.
51 Brandon Webb (6-3; 326; Jr; Owasso, OK)

C 60 Evan Epstein (6-3; 295; Sr; McKinney, TX) - 1st year senior starter
54 Jake Jenkins (6-3; 290; So; Gilmer, TX)
66 Travis Cross (6-4; 280; RFr; Plano, TX)

RG 68 Lane Taylor (6-3; 328; Sr; Arlington, TX) - Four year starter for the Cowboys
76 Eli Dickerson (6-6; 310; So; The Woodlands, TX)

RT 58 Daniel Koenig (6-6; 310; So; Cape Coral, FL) - First year starter
75 Chris Grisbhy (6-5; 315; So; Clute, TX)

TE 14 Justin Horton (6-3; 254; Sr; Henderson, TX) - More traditional blocking TE position
44 Jeremy Seaton (6-2; 247; RFr; Cashion, OK)

WR 82 Isaiah Anderson (5-10; 175; Sr; Wichita Falls, TX) -or-
17 Charlie Moore (6-2; 202; Jr; Bullard, TX) - Fourth option receivers, 14 catches/0 TD's combined
84 Austin Hays (6-2; 170; Fr; San Antonio, TX)

IR 5 Josh Stewart (5-10; 178; So; Denton, TX) - Leading receiver in yardage and receptions
15 John Goodlett (5-10; 185; Jr; Tulsa, OK)
13 David Glidden (5-7; 171; RFr; Mustang, OK)

IR 18 Blake Jackson (6-3; 235; Jr; Gilbert, AZ) - Highest per catch avg among regular pass catchers
85 Blake Webb (5-11; 190; Fr; The Woodlands, TX)

WR 87 Tracy Moore (6-2; 215; Sr; Tulsa, OK) - This is your split tight end style position, think Jimmay Mundine.
8 C.J. Curry (6-2; 185; Fr; Flowery Branch, GA)

QB 11 Wes Lunt (6-4; 211; Fr; Rochester, IL) -or-
4 J.W. Walsh (6-2; 205; RFr; Denton, TX) - Time is split fairly evenly. Walsh started opener, Lunt more since.
10 Clint Chelf (6-1; 205; Jr; Enid, OK)

RB 1 Joseph Randle (6-1; 200; Jr; Wichita, KS) - 500+ yards through 4 games.
31 Jeremy Smith (5-10; 208; Jr; Tulsa, OK)
26 Desmond Roland (6-2; 203; So; Dallas, TX)

FB 9 Kye Staley (5-10; 236; Sr; Guthrie, OK) - Effective receiver out of the backfield.
44 Jeremy Seaton (6-2; 247; RFr; Cashion, OK)

Offensively this is a new group with Joseph Randle being the primary weapon that is returning to action. At quarterback both will see time but Walsh seems to be getting more snaps, but the fanbase seems high on Hunt. Tracy Moore and Josh Stewart are weapons in the passing game and the offensive line has a pair guards anchoring an inexperienced group that has developed nicely early on.

29 Joe Mitchell (6-3; 225; Jr; Katy, TX)

MLB 45 Caleb Lavey (6-3; 240; Jr; Celina, TX) - Returning starter

20 Larry Stephens (5-10; 182; Jr; Houston, TX)

6 Ashton Lampkin (5-11; 175; Fr; Arlington, TX)
24 Miketavius Jones (5-10; 170; RFr; Houston, TX)

Obviously you can see that the defensive unit it the more experienced of the two and that could be a big reason why we're seeing improvement from last year. That said the Cowboys are inexperienced up front, but that front four is supported by a very solid linebacker position that has been a stabilizing group for the Cowboys. The secondary is strong as well with a good mix of talent and experience. All in all it's a defensive unit that should expect to be better than last year, they'll need to prove that with increased competition.
