Junior among KU's four captains | KUsports.com
Someone mentioned this yesterday and I think it's worth repeating. Big kudos to Toben for the transition and the obvious work ethic and leadership he has shown.

Texas Longhorns' Garrett Gilbert to start Saturday's opener vs. Rice Owls - ESPN
Garrett Gilbert was announced as the Longhorns' starter on Monday for Saturday's season opener against Rice. Connor Wood is scheduled to look at both Tennessee and Colorado as possible transfer destinations. Gilbert's starting status means that the Longhorns are in a similar situation as Kansas and will be looking for major improvement from a second year starter.
Surprise: A&M wants lower exit fees if they leave Big 12 | CollegeFootballTalk
My guess is that they'll get it. CU and NU didn't pay nearly what they were set to pay when it all started going down last year.
No. 1 Sooners to unveil Sam Bradford statue | KUsports.com
Was this guy that good? I mean I know he was good, but a statue? Maybe we need one for #5?
Bill Self shrugs off Aggies’ departure | KUsports.com
Self is always positive when these things happen but I don't think he'd be so positive if we miss out in the potential super conference game.

Syracuse is another consensus contender, and Kansas could get there by the end of the season.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

I was so tired of conference talk, I missed this...
My guess is that they’ll get it. CU and NU didn’t pay nearly what they were set to pay when it all started going down last year.
What did they end up paying?
Haven't seen a confirmed number
Between $6 and $9 million each – Big 12 withheld TV payments last season. Is expected to do same for aTm, but the payment is larger this year. Split 10 ways instead of 12.
I wouldn't say Texas is in the same spot as us
at QB. Gilbert was an elite 5-star QB, Gatorade player of the year. He has NFL tools and ability. His improvement is expected. We are praying Webb can manage the game this year. If that’s all Gilbert does this year as a Soph, someone will start over him next year.
Side note: Wood played at a rival HS of mine. He tore us up as a Freshman and we ended up losing the game late.
That's a good article on the 3-4
Pretty thorough and discusses strengths and weaknesses. The LJW has really come on strong with their football coverage.

Pardon my French, but A&M can go f*ck themselves
When did they voluntarily sign onto the Big 12 deal? 8 months ago? And now they want us to just throw out the liquidated damages clause that they signed up for? What possible argument could they have to justify a reduced rate?
You want out, you pay up or you shut up. Period. This is a school that teaches its students that self-sufficiency is crucially important, and that “entitlements” for others are evil. But when it involves THEM, suddenly they piss and moan about the Big 12 wealth not being sufficiently redistributed, and claim they’re entitled to special treatment under a contract they voluntarily signed up for. I can’t stand that kind of hypocrisy. And it angers me that no ADs will call them out because they don’t want to rattle the old boys club.
Bring in Louisville, Pitt, Cincy, West Virginia, and Nova (if they bring football up to D-1) or BYU.

It should also be noted
That aTm was the only school to request the money offered up last summer by ISU, KU, KSU and Baylor to try to keep the Big 12 together. MU, OU, OSU, Tech and Texas saw the gesture as symbolic and declined to collect.
So yes, they can F themselves. But I want them to leave – better to see them struggle in the nation’s toughest football conference than complain in ours.
Let me be clear on this:
We definitely need a statue for Sparky!

Another cool statue...
Would be Kerry Meier hauling in a pass a la his game winner against Mizzou. That’d be sweet, the bread basket catch…..

Would it be possible to make a statue of Stuckey
causing and recovering Booger’s fumble? And if you look at it from a different angle it somehow morphs into the sideline interception!
Solution
We put a big screen TV up at the very top of the hill. In fact, it’ll be on top of Frashier Hall. I’m talking BIG. Like the biggest screen ever. And we face it East. Then we continually stream replays of all the best plays vs MU…..and then just for some salt we replay all our championship games.

I still don't understand
why the Big XII would let anyone negotiate a lower exit fee. They knew it was there, so what is the basis for not having to pay the full price? Just to get the situation over with?

My take was
It gets the move official quicker, which gives the league more “official” time to negotiate a deal with a replacement(s?) school. While talks are/should going down with other schools now no doubt, the sooner TAMU leaves the sooner they don’t have to be under the table stuff.
If the Big 12 and TAMU get into a war over the exit fee, perhaps it drains resources and attention the league needs to be devoting to replacement and expansion?
I don’t really believe what I just typed, but its the only explanation I can come up with. I think you got a good question, and I’d think most would want A&M to pay all of their exit fee out of spite and gentlemenly pissed-offness

Yeah
that seems like the only reasonable(-ish) explanation.
It just seems odd to me that with this whole conference realignment process being driven by money, everyone’s okay with schools not paying the full penalty for leaving the conference. I think the Big XII even raised the penalty after Nebraska and Colorado left.
